The will to prepare

“The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare.”  - Juma Ikangaa

I think this quote is true whether you are trying to win a race, a listing or in life in general.

Black horse running in snowRunners need to run regularly to build up miles.  The more you run the easier it gets.   If a runner is serious about winning, that person will also work on sprints and work on hills.   A runner prepares for the race.

For a real estate agent, preparation is important also.   How well does the real estate agent understand the real estate business?  Does the agent know his/her market?  How well is the agent able to communicate?  This list could go on and on.   The better prepared an agent, the more successful the agent is going to be.

That said,  you can’t sit around all day planning and preparing.  You have to actually get out there.  As Nike says, “Just Do It.”

If you don't seize the moment, the day will be gone before you realize it.

Sondra, I always love your perspective. I love this photo. Carpe Diem is a famous phrase from one of my favorite movies, a bittersweet film with a powerful message, Dead Poets Society.

Seize the Day, Seize the Moment--the same thing.

JUST DO IT

I had lunch with a CEO at a company once tell me Sondra, many opportunities will pass by your window in life, and as your thought goes here "carpe diem", you either grab them or they pass by, RARELY getting a second chance at many of them. They just go to others. I like this preparation topic related to thinking about what many people call LUCK like in real estate or championship football teams. Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. And, the harder I work the luckier I get. Excellent topic to think about. Preparation so important, BUT THEN ACT!!

Good reminder for all of us to get out and about and do what needs to be done.  Too many confuse busy activities with productive action.

Sondra  As a former marathoner preparation was everything.  I ran 4 marathons in 4 months back in 1996.  I always believed I was prepared...daily.  I still love to run but the weather slows me down...that, and I'm at 7,888'!  Great blog, suggested

You take the best pictures. I love this one. I spend a lot of time preparing to meeting with prospective clients. That preparation gives me confidence and a secure feeling.
