What a wonderful store, I would certainly want to visit M.Cutone Mushroom Co.  When my father (who at the time was a colleged professor) worked summers at the experimental research labs at Green Giant lab, one of the tihings he brought home were the mushrooms they grew, which were so delicious....they cam in large trays and they were beautiful.  I love mushrooms of all sorts.  Thanks for sharing this, and if I find myself in Avondale, Pa, I will definitely look for this store. Roy - I didn't know that eastern PA is the heart of mushroom county! I cook with all kinds of mushrooms and recently ordered white truffle ravioli at my favorite restaurant and it was the best dish I've ever eaten! Being a health enthusist, I read mushrooms are low in calories, fat-free, cholesterol-free and provide the nutrients, selenium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin D! Just some more reasons to eat and cook with mushrooms!

 

I love the variety of ways mushrooms can be prepared! The M. Cutone Mushroom Company sounds like a great place to visit - often!

Hi Roy, Thank you for the heads up about this place.  My parents years ago used to buy their mushrooms at Phillips Mushrooms on Route 1 right near Longwood.  I will have to check this place out.  Thank you for the post!

Roy, I had no idea that there were mushroom stores. How unique! By the way Cal Yoder wrote a really fine endorsement of you and it is all true.

Roy you and Mrs. Dolores are just enjoying life to the fullest.  IF big IF we ever get to retire we hope to do the same!

I like your approach of exploring the beautiful things, that mother nature has to offer.

I'm really fond of mushrooms, especially Portabellas.  I like to marinate them whole in Teriyaki sauce, and then place them cap side down (stem up) on a cookie sheet.  Then place grated swiss cheese on the underbelly of the cap, and broil until tender.  They are absolutely delicious.
