The deadline for the 2013 Spring Turkey Season is drawing near. The drop dead date for applications is Febuary 1, 2013. Unit k in Northwest Michigan is the perfect place to apply. The populations are up despite the high number of predators in the area and hunter numbers are down. We have lots of great public and private hunting lands that hold flocks of Turkey. The season is long and right on time for calling off the roost. If you pick the early 1st season you may get lucky and have snow for easy tracking and scouting.

If your interested in purchasing your own hunting camp the timing could not be better. Prices start as low as 500 per acre and are averaging around 1000 per acres for hunting, wooded properties. Large tracts over 40 acres are plentiful. The Northwest corner of the state has flown under the radar for years and is over looked by many. This area offers the best hunting, fishing oppurtunity in the whole state. Here you will find large and small hills, mature stands of trees with a mixture of hardwoods, pines, cedars etc.. a good mix of agriculture, corn, soybeans, fruits. Endless amounts of water ways, creeks, rivers, ponds and lakes. Game animals in the area, include, Deer, Partridge, Rabbit, Coyotes, Bear, Elk, Coons, Turkey, Pheasent plus... The fishing is world class. There are properties that include all these features. Call Today

Hi,

I noted that the deadline for the 2013 Turkey Hunt was February 1.  Do you ever issue any more license after the deadline?  If you do, is there public land that non-residents can hunt on.  We would also be interested in fishing, if you could send me any kind of info such as brochures regarding the Turkey Hunt and Spring fishing that would be awesome.

I am very interested in coming out there to Turkey hunt with my fiance' while I am attending a workshop.

The southern Zone in our State is know as Zone ZZ has over the counter Turkey Tags for the Spring Late Season. There is plenty of State Land in the Southern Half of the State and that is where the biggest populations of birds are. Im not sure where you are going in the State, but here are the places that I have taken birds on State Land down there. Waterloo State Game Area (Grass Lake Area is Fantastic) Jackson County. Holly State Game Area (Oakland County) and Argyle State Game Area (Sanilac County) You can go to www.midnr.gov/hunting to view the fees for out of state hunters and fisherman. You can drive 5 miles in any direction and find great fishing throughout the whole state and you can buy a 3 day license also. Good Luck and I hope the info helps.
