Scuba Diving is a great way to spend your time while you are on vacation. Here in Galveston, Texas there are quite a few charter boats that will happily cater to your bubble blowing needs.

Some of the favored hotspots near Galveston are the Liberty Ships, the Offshore Drilling Rigs, and the Flower Gardens National Marine Preserve. Underwater activities you can engage in depend on which site or sites you choose. For example, since the Flower Gardens is a marine preserve, you cannot fish, collect shells or animals, spearfish, or feed any of the animals there. Also you cannot drop anchor within the preserve's boundaries. However, within the preserve you can explore all of the Flower Gardens as well as a large part of the Stetson Bank. You can also photograph the reefs, and animals that call the preserve home.

If spearfishing is your thing, you may want to consider diving the shipwrecks, and the oil rigs. With visibility up to 60 feet on average, and abundant marine life, these are sure to be some favored hotspots for your spearfishing trip. Spearfishing is becoming increasingly more popular beacuse of its low impact on the enviroment ( practically no impact ) due to the fact that there is no fishing line to break and no hooks or weights to loose.

The Shipwrecks, Flower Gardens, and Oil Rigs aso provide some of the most breathtaking photography you can find anywhere. You could snap on a macro lense and photograph the shrimp an fish hiding among the barnacles and coral, or use a wide angle lense to photograph the whale sharks coming in to feed.

Whatever your underwater taste is, you should consider taking a charter from Galveston to explore our Texas coast. Remember, Be Safe always dive with a buddy!!!
