Puyallup Antique & Collectibles Show - Feb. 2 & 3

The Puyallup Antique & Collectibles Show coming to the Puyallup Fairgrounds ShowPlex building on Feb. 2 & 3.  There are over 400 exhibitors planning to attend, making it the largest such show in western Washington.

General Admission fee is $6.00 for each day.

Hours are:  Saturday – 9 am to 6 pm

                 Sunday – 10 am to 5 pm

For those who are into collecting or just like to look at the older goods, the show will include fine andtiques and collectibles up to 1970.  The show does not allow any type of flea market booths or garage sale items.

There will also be some booths where people can get verbal market evaluations of some of those things that are laying around the house, which you think might be valuable.  The cost is $5 per object.

On Thursday, January 31, several speakers (who are long time participants in this process) will be giving free lectures to those who might be thinking about getting into the selling of collectibles.  This will be at LaQuinta Inn in Tacoma, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Steven I have seen some of the shows that people bring in there collectibles to experts on the particular item, and am always surprise at what some of the stuff is worth.

My mother has always been a collector. She has a large collection of Carnival Glass and I keep trying to get her to label the pieces for us. I have tried to figure out what they are, but the colors are difficult to 'see' correctly and figuring out the names/design is tough too.

George -- and then there are the pieces from "great aunt Sally" who paid a large price for them way back when, and everyone is sure they are worth a fortune, only to find out they are barely worth the evaluation cost.

Than -- yes, and unfortunately, the marks on them, if they have them, are written in such a way that only the experts can decipher them.  Good luck getting her to write them down.

Steven,

Personally I think these collectibles and antique shows are fun to attend and wander around to see if the show has anything I want or collect. Good Localsim blog and I hope they get a big turnout for the show.

Robert - it looks like the weather will be cooperating, so the turnout should be good.

Debbie -- It would be fun to do that, but scheduling prohibits this time around.  Maybe next time.  Glad I could help.

Hope you both have a fabulous weekend!

Wayne and Jean -- it does indeed.  And one of these times, when my schedule allows, I am going to get down there.

Pat -- and the nice thing is they do it twice a year at this location - once early in the year and again in November (this year).
