A old well brings out the child in me

When I see an old well I get the childish impulse of running over to it, leaning over and shouting really loud just to hear the echo.  But then there is a battle with the other part of my brain which tells me to stay away because I might fall in.  Okay so I give each a turn :)

This well probably was constructed around 1710 when the house was built.  I did take a peek, it seem rather deep, however since I was with clients I resisted the impulse of shouting down the well.

Well in Stone Ridge NY

Jennifer:  How cool.  I have not seen a real working well in many, many years.  Very colorful, and yes, I would go over to it, look inside, and maybe even talk into it to see if it talked back to me.  Sounds like fun.

Jennifer, I have the same impulse, LOL. You should go back and shout down the well since you already did the grown up responsible thing. Love the picture!

I have to admit I have never shown a house with a well.  I do remember spending a summer at a house that had an outside pump.  Not quite as pretty as a well.

Funny how somethings trigger certain memories! How the child in us so carefree and the adult all the no 's and don'ts! I hope you have a great weekend!

Great job resisting the urge to yell down the well. Did your clients buy the house?
