Tire Tracks Through the Snow... See Ya January!

By

As January comes to a close, and snow continues to fall outside my window I think it is so easy to forget January as a month in a year, simply because it is the first.  It comes after the rush of the holidays in December, and people are generally working off the hang over of the holiday frame of mind.  It seems to pass so quickly, and yet drag on so slowly as well.

Here is a photo of tire tracks through the snow leading out of my driveway.  To me it is symbolic of January in Michigan, and in June looking back on this it will look funny.  Right now, however, it kind of wears on the spirits.

Michael, I grew up in Cleveland, and sights like this were very common.  For me, especially in the very early morning, it was as if peace descended upon the entire world.  Beautiful.  Mother Nature is quite the Artist.

Speaking of tire tracks... when I left Ohio in 1982... I also left both snow tires, and studded tires.  Very much needed in fourteen inches of snow sitting on top of an inch of ice.  Brrrr.

Michael, I love the photo of the snow.  I edited one last night that is somewhat similar that I took at my brother's house in Sawyer, MI.  Michigan receives a lot of snow!Sawyer, MI

Karen, I'll bet you are enjoying it in Texas these days!  Sharon, yes, we get quite a bit.  When I used to live in Southern states I always dreamed it would be so much fun.  It is, but after a decade, I have grown weary of it.

Michael, I used to look out my front window in Mentor, Ohio and see a very similar sight as the one in your photo.  I have thought more than a few times about moving back... especially since I will turn 69 in a few weeks.  If only it were as easy to actually DO it as it is to just think about it.

You say you used to like in the Southern states?  Exactly where... and when did you move north?

I can leave tracks in my yard, but it is just the dead grass getting crushed. Not near as pretty as your photo.  :-)

Hi Michael,

I lived in Minot North Dakota for several years and it was way too cold for me. I like a little snow and then go home so southern California is perfect for me. Love snow pictures.
