Welcome to Hemet.....Home of beautiful Diamond Valley Lake Recreation Area. Diamond Valley Lake is hidden back between the beautiful hills and a dam. Diamond Valley Lake is a vital drinking water reservoir, serving millions of Southern California Metropolitan Water customers. Metropolitan Water District keeps a close eye on the activities at Diamond Valley Lake for that very reason.
Diamond Valley Lake is open for boating and fishing, however there is a long list of rules and regulations, on what can and cannot be done on the lake, as well as exactly what kinds of vessels are allowed in the water.
There is absolutely NO swimming, personal watercraft, float tubes or body contact of any kind allowed. Again, this is our drinking water resource. Canoes and boats must be a certain length, and certain kinds of engines are allowed/disallowed.
There are walking trails up around the visitor center, overlooking Diamond Valley Lake, and in the springtime, rattle snakes are coming out of hibernation, therefore, warning signs are everywhere.
Also, beautiful wildflower walks are open in the spring. Take a look at some of the wildflower slides.
