Valentine Blondies .....Delicious & So Pretty

 I prepared a plateful of Valentine Blondies and mailed them to my daughter for Valentine’s Day. It was an extremely easy recipe to make and they are so pretty to share at a luncheon, your office, a care package to a loved one or just for your own family. This recipe can be adapted for other holidays by using different colored M&M’s.

                     Valentine Blondies

1 cup all-purpose flour         1/3 cup butter
1/2 tsp baking powder         1 egg
1/8 tsp baking soda              1 Tbl vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt                              1 cup packed brown sugar

 And the most important ingredient
*1 cup to 1 1/3 cup M&M's

 ( 11oz bag M&M’s and you will find a variety of colors and flavors-plain, peanut, peanut butter). I chose the pink, red, white combo and it was the peanut butter flavor.

Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt; set aside.

Melt 1/3 cup butter, add firmly packed brown sugar; mix well. Cool slightly. Add egg (beaten) and vanilla; mix well. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, mixing well. Mix in 2/3 cup M&M's.

 Spread into a greased 9 x 9 or 8 X 8 pan. Sprinkle 1/3 to 2/3 cup M&M's on top.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.  Cool; Scrape the sides of the pan and cut into bars with a sharp wet knife. Keep in an airtight container at room temp.
