On my birthday a few months ago I received... a gift. I likened it to a rocket I can't fly or anything kind-of ironic in an Alanis Morissette-ish kind-of way at the time.
How did that happen? Last summer a friend said, "I'm opening a bar & grill. Bring your peeps." I said, "Sure."
By June my role was more than bringing in real estate business meetings by day and pretty people by night, I was also an investor. By July I gave more moolah. By August it opened. And by October a lot of moolah was missing.
I know, shocker, right? Million dollar question posed: Pay? D.A.? Or bar? Bar was the answer. Happy birthday. Darnit.
So I spent November, December and January getting familiar with my new toy, mainly making it efficient. Paid bills. Because if you don't pay the AT&T Uverse bill for months all of a sudden patrons' credit cards won't process for payment! And getting three wet mops vs. one every week when we only use one and pay for three and all that makes total sense?!
It's been a long 90+ days of learning. Cleanup of both broken bottles and bills. But it's been worth it.
Come to find out, owning (or flipping) a bar is a lot like owning (or flipping) houses. It isn't so much like a black fly in my Chardonnay, afterall.
---> Now the bar is operating very well and it's for sale. $200,000 <----
Serving friends food and drinks is something I enjoy at my home or theirs, toasting to their successful house closings, with their children swimming in my pool. The bar isn't really my dream deal. However...
It's someone's lifelong dream!
It's someone's happy birthday present!
If your hopes are pinned to bar ownership in Ft. Worth...
