Why you want to be on ActiveRain

By
Real Estate Agent with Falcon Property Solutions

JumpJust a little over two years ago, I wasn't really sure what it meant to be a blogger. It certainly wasn't something that I aspired to. I was way too busy with my work to have to deal with another learning curve, and what did I possibly have to say anyway?

Over two-plus decades of real estate, I have developed my own unique systems, and unless something is going to revolutionize the way I do business, I long-ago stopped chasing 'the next best thing.' So when I had an insistent friend who kept telling me that I needed to be on ActiveRain, I reluctantly agreed to give it a try.

Since my first few weeks, I was almost embarrassed at the intensity and closeness of the relationships that started to develop with people that I was meeting in the Rain ~ people who, to this day, I consider to be some of my closest friends.

Then I started reading things that intrigued me, having me rethink how I do business, and I started getting great ideas of just little things that I could add to my daily repertoire to make me a better Agent. After a little while, old habits were being replaced by new streamlined, technology-driven practices that were giving me more time to do what I do best, build relationships with clients and potential clients.

It was exciting to me to share and have an outpouring of responses from people who had never thought about some of the things that I was doing, and how I was helping them to change THEIR business for the better because we were sharing and interacting.

One of the things that I have learned from this Community is to streamline and be virtually paperless. However, until I get to the end of a transaction, there is, of necessity, some paperwork that accumulates, so I keep temporary files on all of my active clients until the transaction is completed. But here is MY bottom line about why you need to be on ActiveRain.

When I looked at the files yesterday of the ten active clients that I am currently working with, I had an AHA moment that solidified my thoughts of being in the Rain ~ six of those clients are direct referrals from other people in ActiveRain with, just from these six, an income potential of more than $80,000.

While I haven't been around lately nearly as much as I would like to be, I wouldn't trade the experience that I have had in ActiveRain. Like anything else in life, you get out of it what you put into it, but if you are sitting on the fence in considering whether or not you should or you shouldn't, I would encourage you to J U M P.

Good morning, William. I have been so pleased with all of the positive responses. Good to see you.

Hello, Praful. I get calls often from people who have seen an article that I have written. The power of the Rain :)

Welcome back, Robert. I spoke with someone this morning who said the same thing. I imagine it has changed a lot over the years.

I really think that is a big part of it, Sharon. Knowing that we are not alone, and that others have not only faced it, but often times have good solutions.

Hi Mimi, we have not seen that much business yet, but it is picking up.  Like most "campaigns" you have to be persistant.

Yes, Christiansens, like our business in general, it is feast or famine, but it really is a great place to be.

Hey, Jay, I'll be glad to send you a link to get you started. :)

Thank you, Pam. I have found that I love the design process. I did do it myself and will be glad to help with yours if you would like. Like anything, the more you're around, the more it works.

Whenever anyone tells me they need a referral to somewhere, Ed, I usually get excited because I know a GREAT Realtor in that area :)

Lynn ~ you have a feature on your Home Page to Invite people. You can cut and paste this in there and send it to her. If she signs up, YOU get the credit and the points for her. Be sure to ask if you don't know how to do that.

Hi, Terkel. Interesting comment. Would love to know more. I, too, really, really, really appreciate the camaraderie.

It IS unique, isn't it, Sharon? This seems to be so much more than Social Media.

The friendships really are neat here, aren't they, Wayne? I stopped trying to figure out WHY they work, I just know that they do.

Great way of putting it, Gene. It really seems to be all of that and more.

TOTALLY agree, Connie (hello, by the way :) ). The referrals are, of course, great, but they come from the amazing relationships.

Hey, Pat and Steve. Welcome Back! It just keeps getting better.

Everyone pulls what they need at the time, Hella. I had a hard time finding the information, and the relationships were there to tell me where it all was. :)

Hello, cutie patootie Linda. Thank you for the reblog. Your friends actually contacted me this week and said that they haven't bought anything yet, they are renting in Texas but he REALLY wants to come to Colorado. We'll see who wins :) Hugs!

Great testimonial, Tyler. This is a wonderful place to learn solid information.

It has totally changed my life, Grant. I look forward to writing and sharing.

Thanks, Barbara-Jo, and thanks for the reblog! Totally agree, even before CRS or any other source, I go to AR. :)

Sure looks like you're making up for lost time, Cynthia. Thanks for stopping by.

To me, Paul, the relationships are what make it all worthwhile, to be sure.

Hey, Bob, I didn't get so many the first year, but they seem to have been steam rolling lately. Could be because so many people want to live in Colorado :)

Like so many others, I joined and then didn't do much for the first year or so.

Now, along with the fun, I consider Active Rain to be vital to my business. Not only do potential copywriting clients find me here, I do a better job because I'm here, learning about your day to day challenges.

Just in the few years since I let my license drop, the market has changed dramatically, as have the ways of reaching out to clients. If I was stuck in how we did things when I was still an agent, I wouldn't be of much use to my clients.

I think that, earlier on, Marte, it was a little more difficult to know WHAT to do once you got here. I am CONSTANTLY amazed at how fast things are changing. Seems like a perfect opportunity for you!

I can only imagine what you guys are going through, Patricia. I have a good friend in CT, and life has been harrowing, to say the least. You are certainly getting it. Hope things begin to improve and stabilize SOON. Thank you so much.

Hello, precious friend. It was GREAT to talk with you. We are beginning our best years EVER (who said anything about OLD?)! LOVE and hugs and huge kisses.

Mimi: It was great to read how you got in Active Rain and have grown once you got more involved. I, too got in, wrote a few blogs, then found I was spending too much time trying to read all the comments and drifted away. Now I'm back in really just reading one set of the comments on the page and trying to make a few comments that might be helpful. I hope to start writing some blogs myself and participate more in the next few months. I'd like to be able to give back to others when I can.

Good morning, Nancy. I have found that the best was to 'stay involved' is to make comments. Even if you don't have the time to write, you get to know people by commenting on posts. Welcome back.

Right, Paddy? I have been AMAZED at the people who come to me because of my blogging.

Isn't that the truth, Donna? It is such a great place to be.
