Found THE Perfect Home and Fell Head Over Heels in Love With It?
Woo the Seller
Most every housing market indicator has pointed in the direction of an increasingly hot market for sellers, as I mentioned in a previous blog, with historically low mortgage rates, buyers are continuing to flood the market; and with housing inventory still on the low end, buyers need to set themselves apart from their competition.
Selling a home can be a difficult process emotionally. Homeowners created memories in a home they will likely never walk through again; pouring blood, sweat, and probably tears into making their house a home, and likely into getting that home ready to sell. So of course a homeowner will want to know that their labor of love will be appreciated by the next set of dwellers. At least, it was true for my husband and me, when we sold our home a couple of years ago…
The market was still warm, mortgage rates were beginning to fall to historic rates, and we timed our listing to fall on a 3-day weekend. Our amazing Realtor had done some pre-listing showings on the home, and before day 1 of the listing was over, we had 9 offers on the home. Talk about tough decisions – every offer came in strong. But there was one offer that stood out from the rest – a young family had included what seemed like a love letter in their offer. A letter that described their viewing of the home, and how their daughter had picked out her bedroom and had already planned where everything would go. Hello heart-string tugs! Still after weighing all the offers, this really helped with our decision.
