For All of You Chicago Cubs Fans....Be A Part Of History

Too often these days sports owners and teams are too far focused on the business side that tradition and team pride go right out the window. Not only is this apparent when it comes to player contracts but the stadiums they play in. In 2009 The Dallas Cowboys left Texas Stadium (a stadiun that FIVE super bowl winning teams played in) for a brand new state of the art one. Also in 2009, The New York Yankees left Yankee Stadium (home to TWENTY SEVEN World Championships) for a newer stadium as well. With these and many other stadiums rapidly being demolished, one thing I have really come to appreciate as a resident of Chicago is Wrigley Field.

When I was younger and went to the games with family I was the typical happy kid eating his hot dog, nachos and in awe of watching a professional game live. As I grew older I began to notice the little things that really stand out. The manual scoreboard, the ivy, the (on a good day) "W" flag flailing in the wind. I realized how lucky I was to live so close and be able to frequently visit such a historic place. A place where greats like Ron Santo Ernie Banks and Ryne Sandburg once took the field. A place where Harry Caray endeared fans with his passion of the game before and after leading the 7th inning stretch. Even Babe Ruth's "Called Shot" sailed into center field at Wrigley Field.

Next year marks 100 years at Wrigley Field and for those die hard Cubs Fans out there that want to contribute to history, here is your chance.. The Chicago Cubs are reaching out to the fans to help create a logo commemorating 100 years of Wrigley Field and to honor all of the great memories in that span.

Regardless if you're an artist or just a passionate fan, it's a great opportunity for the winner to have their artwork recognized by thousand of fans, and even score a pair of free tickets in the process.

Although, we relocated to Tennessee 7 years ago, my husband remains a die-hard Cub fan. Since Tennessee doesn't have a major league baseball franchise, he's not tempted to be unloyal. He would be heartbroken if the Cubs franchise ever decided to demolish Wrigley field. Enjoy the season opener. I hope it's not 30 degrees like it was one year when we went.
