An Age-Friendly Valentine
Asheville boomer (and beyond) real estate clients seem to be setting an age-friendly trend. So I am sending a Valentine to (*:*) Inspired Elders! Whether updating, downsizing, remodeling for aging-in-place, innovative and environmentally sensitive construction techniques and products are in high demand with this savvy group. It makes sense , they tell me, to reduce energy and water consumption and improve residential comfort and safety. Here in Asheville, this group is into-

Age-friendly Trends
- Green Remodeling/Building - solar technology, indoor air quality, energy efficiency
- Daylighting – an array of amazing products and choices
- Overcoming Design Challenges – easy-to-navigate spaces that work regardless of age or physical ability
Aging-in-Place –Love the priorities
Indoor air quality (IAQ) – removing harmful air-borne elements from indoors- stale air, toxic pollutants, and possibly radon seeping into a home - can be a serious issue. So it also makes sense to consider how indoor air quality can be enhanced.
Boomers tell me they appreciate insights on how daylight from above also can work when incorporating universal design features in “forever homes” and can provide age-friendly and dollar-saving benefits.
