The second annual "Sweetheart" Historical Home Tour is taking place this Saturday.

This year, this popular event coincides with the Museum's Heritage Day Festival and will include two historic homes in Brooksville Florida:

the Lovely Lovelace House (formerly St Anthony's Catholic Church) and
the Frank Saxon House. During the tour, enjoy some wine from the local Brookstone winery.

Historic Homes and Home Life

Upon return to the Heritage Museum, also known as the May-Stringer House, another one of our fine historical homes, you may enjoy a special dessert selection while learning about the use of Victorian fans.

Apparently, there is much more to the use of a fan than just air circulation, they seemed to be used as a sort of code or special communication device long before there were cell phones!

Insider Tip
This is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes. The historic homes on this tour are privately owned so please be considerate of that fact.

Debbie R., it's not every day that we can see very old homes in our area.

Debbie L., the one in the picture is now the museum and it really is interesting!

Conrad, one of the houses in the tour was formerly used as a church, not the one in the picture. That always was a private home and now houses the Heritage Museum.

Joan, you are so right! We complain about not having enough cable outlets... can you imagine having to use outhouses?

Silvia I love Historical Home tours unfortunately last 8 years I have not been able to go always had clients who were coming into town....just like I have not been to an Active Rain meet up for the same reason!

Endre, I wasn't able to attend this event this year because of an all day class I was taking. But the museum is open year round and there are always knowledgeable people around who just love to talk about the exhibits!
