Craigs list fraud gets phones to ring, can we learn something?

Earlier in the week I received a call from someone about the house for rent at $800.  Then the phone continued ringing.  We found that someone had copied one of our listing and offered a super price for rent. See original story.

In the end I received 8 calls, by people who had found us by driving by or an address search on Craigs list.

At least 3 of them could be buyers right now.  I showed the place to one who had called my lender for info, goten prequalified and asked to see it.  May get it sold.

There are a lot of people who are just out there looking for rentals.  A good proportion of whom would qualify to buy.  So I wonder, How we can get this action, short of posting our own fraud!!

Ideas?

Probably can't.  One of our agents uses craigs list for his rentals.  He gets calls now and then.  I use it for my listing but haven't got squat yet.

Guy - craigslist is one free site to put your listings on, it works for some and obviously it works for those who know how to unfairly exploit the system.

But there are other ways. You can always hire Bucky to stand outside your feature listing!

I get some response from Craig's List. However AR has been the best response.

Wow - why did they do the fake post?  Your company was the only contact on there, right?  So, regardless of what they said your office would get the calls.  Find out who the scammer was and thank them for their lead generation!  :)  haha
