The Upside of Down by Rebecca Talley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was a quick, easy read. The main character is already the mother of 6, struggling with a difficult relationship with her own mother and being active in her church when she learns she is pregnant with her 7th child. This book is very heavy on the religious themes. I am not a member of the LDS church and don't know much about it so don't know whether the handling of their beliefs was accurate. I was not able to relate to any of the characters. The husband seemed too perfect, the mom too critical, and the main character too shallow. The chaos discussed in the book seemed overly contrived. There were six kids but only two of them were younger so I couldn't figure out why there were so many mishaps and problems. In the end it was a sweet enough story with a predictable ending.
