Dallas Real Estate- High Rises Missing a Floor

This is hilarious... did you know that some developers omit the 13th floor of a high rise building??  I had never heard of this before.  There's a new condo conversation going on in Dallas and instead of having a 13th floor for residences, they are putting the pool and workout equipment there to top off the building.

Many builders are afraid that people on the 13th floor would never have the resale value of people on other floors and it would hinder sales completely. What's weird is I know many people where 13 is their lucky number.  My brother's birthday is on the 13th and he turned 13 on Friday the 13th, back many years ago...

My husband's mom's birthday is on the 13th and she also likes that number.  Maybe the 13th floor should always be held for people born on that day.

Other cultures have other unlucky numbers. The Asian culture has 4, and Italy has 17.

Here's more on this unlucky 13 on a building.

We have a number of buildings here with a missing 13th floor as well.  On the other hand, there are lucky numbers and houses with those in their address may sell better.

My address is 3013.  I didn't like the 13 at first, but when you add the numbers up, it comes out to my lucky #7 so I don't mind the address.

I can't believe some of my clients still get giddy when the address has 69 in it.  How old are these people?

Donna never paid much attention to this, did know that number 4 and worked with someone that refused to buy any homes with this number.  We have alot of condo buildings going up here and I will have to check and see if any of them have a 13th floor missing.

We have a bunch here without the 13th floor -- 12 then 14... weird...   13 is a very lucky number in my family my grandmother was born June 13, 1913 at 1:13pm (13:13 military)...  911 is now a number people seem to react negatively to

Many houses here have no 13th floor.  This tradition goes back many decades.

Yes, this is a longstanding tradition.  (As in, I've known about it since I was a child, and I'm older than dirt!)  Thus the name of the 13th Floor Elevators in the 60's, and, more recently, a Wikipedia listing on the topic Thirteenth Floor, among other things.
