The Definition of Hard Work....

By

Typical Monday,...even for a holiday. A stategic planning client calls. She is very talented.  She wants her own TV show..a worthy and lofty goal for anyone but she does have the talent to accomplish this.  Soooo, I ask her, "What did you do today, to help faciliate this goal"? Fair question.

Her reply..."I worked my butt off". Ok good answer, but I am also an attorney so I am not stopping there and I need more info (or 411 as it is often said - I love that)!!!

I reply, "Walk me through your day". WELL, the "working her butt off" was tantamount to 1.5 hours at the fitness center, 1.5 hours getting new tires, 1 hour for red light therapy, 1.5 hours of Bikram yoga, 1.5 hours preparing food and an hour getting fresh food at a health food store.

The call was at 06:30 PM. Some simple math....not a lot of "hard work" here...7.0 hours were spent on personal things and none of this had any benefit to her goal.

Her reply to this?? "Well, I am going to promote the tire guy on my Facebook page and a lot of people will see it". Hard work today. Very hard work today (even by California standards) LOL

although to get on television today, perhaps her focus on exercise and diet was spot on.  :o)

I've sometimes wondered how many of the average looking stars of the past could get on television today.

have a great week, Eric

Too each their own, taking a personal day, to focus on yourself is all good, but not when it comes to making a living or I should say, make a good living,

all too common for entrepreneurs--especially real estate professionals!

Being a disciplined business-owner is not easy.

(In fact, I wrote my own tips for 2013 business plan here.)

If we keep the activities focused, and the goal SUPER simple, we can do it!

Paddy -- promoting tire guy on Facebook hardly qualifies as "working butt off" in preparation for television show.  Seems she should be developing LONG list of contacts for her show -- either to help her get into it, or as means of having guest on it.
