Tulips in the Garden:  George Washington's Mount Vernon

When I suggest a visit to George Washington's Mount Vernon, the images of tulips may not be your first thoughts.  However, when you visit Mount Vernon during the spring, you will want to allow time to spend in the gardens.  The tulips will be in full bloom in April.

Plan to spend much of the day when you visit Mount Vernon.  There is much to see and do.  These photographs were taken when Dolores and I visited Mount Vernon last April.

Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture the special moments when you are out and about in your community and your travels.

You bring all the photos to life for all of us, thank you. Unfortunately, they do not last long, but certainly enjoy them when is full bloom.

Hi Roy,  I saw so many tulips at the grocery store yesterday.  Our grounds aren't thawed enough for any vegetation so I have to view my flowers with your blogs or the grocery store.

Beautiful beautiful, beautiful!!! funny story.....about 35 yrs ago I planted about 200 bulbs in my front yard of my new home. They all bloomed on cue, and were just breathtaking. Next morning when I woke up, there was nothing left but the stems. At first, I couldn't imagine what had happened, and then our new German shepherd pup starting throwing up colorful petals. If she haft been so sick, I would have taken a rolled up news paper to her. Lol

Great shots, Roy. Tulips are my wife's favorite flower. I try to get them to grow but we have a mole/gopher problem. Not sure which one eats the bulbs, but one of the like rodents does.
