Every year, thousands of visitors flock to Kenwood neighborhood in Chevy Chase, MD to enjoy the beauty of the spectacular cherry blossoms.
This year, Kenwood's Garden Club will have an information booth located at the corner of Brookside Drive and Kenwood Avenue from 10am-3pm on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. Volunteers will share stories of the neighborhood and fun facts about the cherry trees. Donations towards the maintenance and replacement of the trees are welcome.
Be sure to bring a camera (you won't believe your eyes!!) and small bills for purchasing lemonade and cookies from the kiddos that will no doubt once again be out in force.
I love my Kenwood neighborhood for so many reasons (cherry blossoms included) and here are a few:
* Location, Location, Location- close to Bethesda Metro, shops and restaurants and an easy drive to the beltway or DC
* Wonderful annual social traditions such as: the new neighbor welcome dinner, cherry blossom cocktail party, Independence Day parade, chili night, Halloween kids' party, ladies' night out, the hoilday dinner and more!
* The annual Kenwood Show - a fun (and sometimes hokey) musical production put on in May by the neighborhood "actors"
* Kenwood's 100-year young Garden Club
* Nightly patrols for neighborhood safety
* Beautiful, gracious homes - each one different from the next
* Terrific sense of community
Bring a camera during the two weeks of peak blossom time - the last 2 weeks of March 2013 and share the joy that is Springtime in Washington --- It's almost Cherry Blossom Time!!
