Ashton Heights Neighborhood in Arlington Virginia is a peaceful and friendly community with a total population of just under 4,000 amongst approximately 1800 households. The median age is 33 years with medianincome at $96,000. It is bounded by Wilson Boulevard, 10th Street North, Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) and Glebe Road.
Ashton Heights is included on the list of Arlington neighborhoods which are designated as Historic Preservation Districts. The architectural styles of the homes span the period from the 1900s to the 1950s. Median home price is $825,000.
It is now fully developed and only recently celebrated its 90th Anniversary. It is in close proximity to schools (including Washington Lee High School and Barrett Elementary), hospitals, recreational facilities and shopping centers. The Orange Line Metro Rail is a mere six blocks away.

Cherrydale was placed on the National Register of Historic Districts in 2003. It is well developed with lovely, aged trees surrounding 19th and 20th architecturally styled homes. Cherrydale Fire House which was built in 1919 and Cherrydale Hardware Store are two non-residential staples. It is home to H B Woodlawn School. It was not until well into the 1950s that apartments and condominiums were added to the mix, thus opening more housing options for many people.
Columbia Forest is located in South Arlington and is bordered by George Mason Drive, Columbia Pike, Four Mile Run and Jefferson Street. There is a variety of architectural styles and the condominium developments are done in two styles – garden and high rise. It is served by Metro Bus along George Mason Drive and Columbia Pike where a variety of stores, shops and restaurants are in abundance. The Bailey’s Branch Park can be found in Columbia Forest.
Approximately 53% of the residents hold degrees; median age is 33 while the median income is $61,701. Glen Forest and Barcroft Elementary Schools are among those serving Columbia Forest.

Dominion Hills Neighborhood is bounded by Wilson Boulevard, McKinley Boulevard (Ohio Drive) and Four Mile Run. It has a population of almost 2,000 residents. There are 600 homes featuring the rambler style built in 1950. Median price of homes in Dominion Hills is $662,000. The median age is 35 years with median income of $158,000. A high 88% of residents here have degrees.
The neighborhood is greatly enhanced by the proximity of Interstate 66 and the Metro Rail Orange Line. Among the many shopping choices are the Dominion Hill Shopping Center and the multiple stores, shops and restaurants at Seven Corners. Schools include Ashland Elementary. It is home to Upton Hill Regional Park, Mace Park and Bluemont Park tennis courts and nature facilities.
Some trivia – In August 1967 American Nazi Party Leader George Lincoln Rockwell was assassinated in the Dominion Hills Shopping Center by a former party officer.
