The dream - A log home in Colorado on a snowy day
I’m from Texas. As a girl, I always dreamed about Colorado. I dreamed of snow. I dreamed of log cabins. Fast forward thirty or forty years - I find myself incredibly blessed to live in Colorado.
I’ve very happy living the Front Range region – a part of Colorado that is NOT in the ski country. We get about 300 days of sunshine per year. It doesn’t snow very often. Granted, I’m learning to wish for snow which seems to be viewed as the equivalent of rain in Texas. The six inches of snow that we got last night and this morning will probably be gone within the next day or so unless the snow is a shady area.
Anyway, a good friend of mine in Elizabeth, Colorado has a log home. (Elizabeth, CO is just east of Parker and about an hour north of down town Colorado Springs and a little over an hour to Denver)
I’ve wanted a photograph of his log home in the snow for an upcoming post that I have planned about log homes. So, today he has graciously been trying to take photographs for me since I didn’t have time to go to his house. He was a very good photography student over the course of the day. First, we had to get rid of the cell phone photographs. Then we worked on lighting and getting the “right” angle. He wasn’t quite sure what I meant when I told that I wanted him to stand in the trees and take a picture of the front of the house. Regardless, I was very happy with this photograph of his log home in the snow.
Sometimes, I think people get so accustomed to seeing their home that they no longer notice its beauty. This is especially if they do not use the front door very often. I hope that each of you can take the time to notice what makes your home beautiful.
