Cool backsplash

By
Home Builder with The Flooring Girl

glass backsplash pound ridgeThis afternoon, I went to one of my customer's homes in Pound Ridge.  Unfortunately, the husband got delayed, but thankfully, this was my last appointment for the day, so I sat down in the kitchen with the wife.  She made some awesome coffee and I admired her kitchen which looks great.  Beautiful cabinets and granite.  But, the coolest part of all is the backsplash, so I thought I'd share it.

It's glass, and it's installed vertically, rather than the traditional horizontal.  The vertical approach is very stylish, and it's a design technique they've been featuring in higher class homes (and stores) for the last couple of years.  I love the colors on this, and I love how it looks like rain drops.

If you live in Westchester County, call us when you are ready to design your kitchen backsplash.  914-937-2950.

Debbie, that is interesting installing the backsplash vertically instead of traditional horizontal I've not had the pleasure of seeing this. Have a good evening...Bob

Deb, it certainly is different, but traditional tile still works for me, and they can do some interesting designs as well.

My taste is constantly changing. A few years back, I installed a slate backsplash. It looks great as I live in the country and the slate ties in so well with the rustic feel of my home. However, if I ever remodel my kitchen, I will use glass tile as my backsplash. I love the look of this product. Not to mention, the ease of cleaning it.

I like vertical too, IF, and that's a big IF, the wall is plumb and it fits well.  If the wall isn't, vertical tiles appear not vertical!

Debbie, I like the glass tiles, and the vertical install is cool.  My only concern with this style of tiles is will they stay in fashion, or eventually be seen as the equivalent of the 70's avocado and harvest green appliances?  Bill

Oh those are very similar to the tiles we're going to be using as a backsplash in one of our bathrooms being remodeled - but I hadn't thought of vertical! Thanks for the idea!

Debbie,

I love them horizontally!  Do you have any pictures of them farther back where you can see the effect?  Would love to see it!

I started to put some of that in when we remodeled but opted for the more anticipated horizontal variety of glass tiles. But that is very cool looking!

Debbie, I am seeing this glass tile in a lot of homes but have never seen it installed vertically. Very interesting.

I have seen this before (vertically) and it really looks cool in a larger space like a shower.

Hmmm, I have not seen it used vertically, either.    It has an interesting look, but if the walls are not plumb, trouble!

Ed - Yes, this may be a bit trendy, but this one works so well.

Tammie - Yes, glass can be very cool.

Jay - Oh yes.  This house has been done VERY well, and they have an excellent contractor. I met him again last evening, too.

Bliz - I'm sure they will go out of style.  Without a doubt.  But, when that happens, this family will (and can afford to) redo it.

Nancy - You're welcome.  I hope it works out well for you.

DeeDee - I should have done that.  It was hard to get good pictures with the light reflecting off the glass.

I was in three homes this week that used the glass backsplash...all were horizontal. I, too, would like to see a full photo. Thanks for the tip.
