Feng Shui Spirituality The power of Spirals by Laura Cerrano
This was one of many small beautiful sea shell I found after enjoying the seal hike a couple of weeks ago. I was drawn to the simplicity of the design and blending of color that seems to just give off a tranquil feeling.
I used this finding to inspire my next painting as you see above in the beginning stages. It's such a fascinating process when creating art, because you learn so much about who you are with the subject matter that interest and influences your life. I realized after a few paintings from my past and currently, that I am drawn to spiral or circular motions when painting and laying out the composition of my work.
so I investigated this a bit more to understand why. I started by revisiting the Red Rock mountains in Sedona watching tour videos on YouTube. During my research I found some amazing insights. Sedona was home to a Native American tribe called the Sun Tribe. This particular tribe truly respected the Sun by holding ceremonies to honor and celebrate it's energy source.
They would also create markings into the mountains which informed the rest of the tribe members when it was the best time of year to plant and in the best directions. The marking they used where spirals.
In Feng Shui, the spiral is a very powerful symbol as well. When ever a house blessing or space clearing takes place, consultant's use a spiral motion to uplift the energy while smudging.
Look at nature, just about everything seems to start in a spiraled formation, including the entire movement of the universe to the beginning of our life with when we are a tiny embryo.
