Henderson County Extension Office: Master Gardener Program
I have used Extension Offices all over the country, wherever I lived, for many decades. They have assisted me in my diseased plants, showed me how to properly amend the soil, and they have taught me how to prevent poisoning myself and others in canning, just to name a few things.
I have been hearing about the Master Gardening program for years and have always wanted to go through the program. They take a certain number of people each year, educate them through weekly classes, and then these graduates volunteer in various capacities over the year. It is a great program, and the learning is intense and massive.
This year I finally took the plunge! I am in the 5th week of the program I think, and the book we are using is packed with so much information I am scared I won't learn it all. But I have learned so much already. And the great thing about this for me is that gardeners tend to be great people, so I am looking forward to being a part of a group of friendly people who love to share information about the passion they have for gardening.
Having issues with your garden? Give the extension office in your area a call and see how they can assist you in having the best garden on your block. And if you are in Henderson County, maybe I will hear from you while I am on the information line doing my volunteer time! You can visit the local extension office website here.
Happy Gardening!
