No one seems to have a real grasp of what Led Zeppelin meant in the infamous “Stairway to Heaven”, but when I awoke this morning to rows of hedges covered in beautiful dusty spring snow I could only think of it as is “spring clean” for the “may queen”; casting a cleansing hush over the earth before the small flowers and animals of spring arrive.

We have been up in a small northern Colorado town called “Berthoud” for the weekend. Our plans to return home today were fortunately (yes, thank you snow!) delayed as hours of driving back down to the city seemed less than appealing. So, thus far, we have put on our pj’s, eaten like kings, watched some great movies, and enjoyed our snow day with family. I feel blessed to be a Colorado native as I know that this mystic white powder brings so much peace and serenity, if only until tomorrow when the bustle of the city will groan once more.

Some may find snow to be merely a nuisance , literature may allude to it as an obscuring blanket marking a change in the life cycle, and even still, many mystics believe that snow is the divine voice speaking to us through visual imagery so that we may realize a spiritual manifestation of human emotion. No matter the true meaning of such a weather phenomenon, snow, to me, feels like a blank canvas for starting fresh and I for one CANNOT wait to start painting ... well, after I help shovel I suppose!
