Three Things I Wish My Website Would Do


Thank you Websitebox for this contest. The top three things I wish my website would do:


  1. Have a live Twitter feed that continually updates. I would like the ability to access my Twitter account from the website; posting updates, re-tweets, etc.

  2. A “Hot Sheet” feature that continually updates, like the MLS system offers. I could select the criteria for the updates and it would happen automatically and at least update every 15 minutes with a date and timestamp. Customers and clients can check in to automatically see what’s new.

  3. This may be surprising but I would like the visitors to my website to be able to access HotPads.com; Trulia.com and Zillow.com from my site and be able to stay on my site, sending me information about properties they are interested in.


And I have to add these two “wishes”:


  1. I would like built in e-mail with the ability to reply and save to folders from my website.

  2. When creating a “mobile” site, please retain the ability to pinch/zoom.

Interesting list.  I do not use Twitter that well and do not see the advantage, but that is probably me.  I can get these updates with my IDX Diverse Solutions.  I spend a good portion of my day explaining why the homes my clients see on national sites are not really available.

Gene - Twitter takes a little time to get use to. Once you do, it offers the opportunity to engage with others, get your message out and find interesting topics. Work with it a bit. Later on, you can write "Tweets" in advance and schedule them for a later time. I don't recommend doing that until you become comfortable with the site. I don't use the feature often but it has it's place.

You've got a lot of great ideas!  It'll be interesting to see if the folks running the contest pass these along to someone building sites for actual implementation.
