Two of my favorite events will be happening in March this year. Historically one of them has been in February, but thankfully they have changed it to March and well... two birds, one stone.... since they are both in Macon, GA. That's about an hour drive for me, but these events... are worth the drive.
First is Friends of the Library used book sale. I LOVE to read and always pick up some great deals at this sale every year. I actually have enough book that I could open my own library. I have a select few authors that I collect in hard back and keep and others I read and pass on to friends and family. I am always reading a couple of books. I keep one in my car when when I have to wait for a home inspector to finish or am waiting to meet clients and one at home because I read until I get sleepy at night. Of course sometimes I get caught up in a book and brush the world aside until I finish.
This sale, held annually at the Macon Centriplex, is a bargain basement priced book sale. I don't think I've ever paid more than $5.00 for hardbacks in excellent condition and paper backs are generally just a $1.00. They are sorted by topic and I go straight for mystery and crime sections. And I typically pick up a few cook books too because I love to try new things. And it's a family day as my husband and both my parents are avid readers also. The dates this year are March 21st through March 24th. I will be waiting in line when they open on the 21st at 10 a.m. I hope the weather will be nice. I take a rolling cart to carry my books in every year.
The book sale changed its date because it's not an official event of.... THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL!
The Cherry Blossum Festival is March 15th to March 24th.... and it's 9 days of concerts, central city park concerts, parades, bed races, street parties, hot air balloons and food trucks. You can click on the website to see the entire list of events, dates. There are also pink pancakes... which are awesome. I will have to pick out an event my daughter wants to go to this year and have a day with her too. And if you are in central Georgia in March you will see PINK everywhere. And hopefully the cherry trees will cooperate and be in full bloom that week too. It's really beautiful when they are and you can print off the driving directions to see the wonderful display.
