It is with a sad heart that I say good-bye to my dear dear friend Whitt who yesterday ended his fight with cancer to move on to a better place in this world.
I had not been in the business too long when Whitt began his search for a lake house and anyone who knows him, knows he was P.I.C.K.Y. We looked at a LOT of homes. And we have remained friends for 17 years since. He was one of those clients that I had a key to his home to show it as a model while the rest of the subdivision was being built. And I waited one day for the dining room furniture to be delivered while he was at work.
I love his crazy sense of humor and the collection of "crazy baby names" always on his refrigerator. Over the years he would tell anyone who slowed down to admire his beautiful lake house to call me and they could get one too. He even once served as a "model" for wonderful cover shot when I had one of his neighbors homes listed. And we've been to nu-way for chili dogs over the years more times than I can count. Once he locked his keys in the truck of his car and he called me to drive him to his parent's house to pick up the spare. He took us out to dinner that night, at Krystal. We've watched Nascar together and squabbled about Tech and UGA over the years.
And his loving and giving spirit will live on as I found out that he didn't want flowers, but instead prefered that I make a donation to St. Jude's children's Hospital. I will honor that request. And I will miss you. And my dear friend, some day I will see you again... on the other side.
