I Wish My Days Were As Long...

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Daytona Condo Realty, 386-405-4408

I do not remember how I got introduced to Newsmax, but I started getting Newsmax this and Newsmax that every day in big doses.

I got burned after the election and decided to cut on a lot of political stuff, and started unsubscribing. It pretty much worked with everything… except Newsmax.

I keep getting it, and every time I go to the very end of the message and click on “Remove your email address from our list”

The page that opens is already populated with my email address, and my name.

Then there is a long list of Newsmax’ different products: News, Updates, etc. There is a box next to them and all of these boxes already show “not Subscribed”.

Well, if I am not subscribed to any of those, how come I keep getting some of them every day?

I scroll to the very end, meticulously checking that the box say “non Subscribed” and then I check the box “I wish to unsubscribe from all Newsmax e-mails”, they throw the offer to keep sending me stuff without 3rd party advertisement, but I confirm “no, cancel all please” and then I “click submit”.

Then there is a message “Your subscription changes have been recorded!” And then they warn you that the change can take up to 5 business days.

I have been unsubscribing for quite some time now. It is like chores, every day I unsubscribe.

If these 5 days have already lasted at least a month, can I convert to have my life measured in these long days?

Have you tried marking it as spam and using the block sender feature? I was told never to respond to those emails as all you are doing is verifying that they are going to a valid email address so when you request to be unsubscribed, the emails just keep coming. Instead, I was told to mark as spam and use the block sender feature.

I have found that during those five days, or whatever the period, they sometimes don't get around the the unsubscribe requested!

Hi Jon - not sure what you use for an email client but programs like Outlook, Outlook  Express, Windows live mail, and others that let you define rules to sort incoming emails could be set to delete anything from Newsmax automatically.  Many internet service providers and even webmail systems allow you to define spam so that it goes to your junk file and disappears.  Newsmax could be defined to your black lists as spam and avoided.

One subscribed, getting off email lists is never as easy as it sounde but you can build your own fences to keep them out. One thing is sure, once subscribed to Newsmax, you will never be alone again.

Best wishes to you and family.  I hope all is well.

Jon -- yes, having days that long would help accomplish much, especially, since in my world, the days seem to keep getting shorter, not longer.

Yes, if one day was 6 days long, we could accomplish a lot. But it sure would be hard to take if we were waiting for something we were looking forward to.

I've also gotten sick of all the political mail, and have tried unsuccessfully to unsubscribe to several things. Now I just delete.

Ki - resolving things with Newsmax is not really difficult. Making one day be 6-days long is difficult. But as Marte said, we would enjoy it when we need more time to do things, but we would hate is when waiting for something.

never can be fully satisfied. What are we missing? We are missing summer in winter, and winter in summer.

Katrina - annoying is sometimes needed. Keeps us on our toes. Life can't be perfect, but annpyances are just small things, that help us to understand and cherish the good stuff

Fred - absolutely true, which is a bit strange for such big operation, like Newsmax.

Ricky - I guess they are by far not the only ones who are trying to be super sticky. Everybody have their own idea of being nice. We already know theirs

Steven - Welcome to the club. My days are shorter and shorter. Days becoming shorter is like climate change. It is getting warmer, and when it is getting warmer, days get shorter

If I were Al Gore, I would make something out of this crap (LOL). Something that would let me flying around in my own jet, for a change

I end up deleting 70% of all my emails as spam.  I hear that gmail has a heck of a spam filter if you don't want to be on these lists.
