How do you get the nice, large, colored text in your posts?

It is time to set my pride aside.  I need help.  I've been a member of AR since 2008.  I still can not figure out how to get nice, colorful text  with a decent sized font to show up in my posts.

To me...the formatted text seems to be the difference between an decent looking post and a professional looking that makes you say, "Wow."   I want my posts to look professional.

Aspens in Colorado in the Fall Some people are able to use different fonts/sizes and different colors.  But not me.....I can't figure it out after years of trying.

I've tried cut and paste.....that seems to create more problems that need to be cleaned up and I still lose the fonts.

I've tinkered with the html code and can change the <small> to <large>.

I use internet explorer on a regular PC.

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out the magic keywords to Google to get my question answered.  (I've been trying off and on since 2008)

Can anyone help?   PLEASE!!!!

In fact, I'll even be a little grasshopper if you would like to be my Sensei for Dick Greenberg's Sensei/Grasshopper contest .

Dicks' post professional looking post is what motivated me to swallow my pride and ask.     Even if you don't want to be a Sensei or participate in a contest, I'd appreciate the help.  Plus.....I know that I can not be the only person that is wondering about this.

Thank you in advance,

Sondra

Hi Sondra....I am not sure I am and expert in this ...but I use scribefire.     I downloaded and installed it.   How it works for me is that I click on tools and open up Scribefire....type my blog in there...and pretty it up with color and size of font.   Then I copy and paste it into my blog.    There may be an easier way...but that works for me!  LOL

The only thing I don't like is that i can't right click...I have to go to the top of the page and click edit...next to file.

Let me know if you have other questions and I will try to help!
Good Luck!

Okay, so I will totally be your sensei.  This is one of the first things I learned when I joined AR.  There is a Chrome add-on or it also goes in FireFox browser.  It's called Scribefire.  You can make larger text, add links and change the color.  It has the script with the line through, too.  The only thing I don't do in there is add pictures, because I can't always get the size right, like I can with the AR picture tool.

If you have more questions, please feel free to call me/email me.

Thanks, Sondra and I will probably take you up on that contest!

HI Sondra,

I also use Scribefire - not all the time, but a lot.  And I can attest that you can do a lot with your text and colors.  The Scribefire logo is sitting on my Chrome status bar now.

Best of good success to you this year!

Sondra,

To be very honest I have never heard of Scribefire until Today.

If you want text like this>

I can show YOU how to do it, without another add on to slow down chrome.

Well I like Linda's comment, so I will bookmark this for future reference, because I've had the same questions. I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing, and I do more blogging than any other agent in my area. But I see some blogs that look really cool because of colored text, and I want to do that. Great question, Sondra.

Two ways I know, edit in Google Mail changing font size and limited colors and bring over, and also as others mentioned using Scribefire. I thought you had to use Firefox from Mozilla as the browser but I think it works as Jordon said as a plug in with Chrome too. Many bloggers go crazy with color or changes in font size or style, when what they really need to work on is writing and CONTENT. Personally I am blue in the face from Day One at Active Rain (2007) submitting my request to put font size and colors into the basic editor but they won't do it.

Sondra  Let me say 'thanks' for asking this question.  That would have been the question I would have asked for this contest.  Now, I'm off searching my brain for everything else I don't know.  Enjoy the day!

I use google mail to compose my blog, get the fonts and colors in (though they are limited in NUm of choices) and then copy and paste.  However when you copy and paste, for some reason in both google mail and scribefire, I find that it doeesn't work when you use the ctrl c ctrl v shortcuts. You need to right click and do the copy and paste that way.

Hi Sondra,

This is one of the first things I learned after coming to ActiveRain. If you type your post in Word and do all the colors, bold, fonts, and underlines, then open the AR "Write a blog post" and highlight your draft, hold your mouse down and then just slide it over to the AR post . Here you will see a small box, then let go of the mouse and and it will appear. Practice with it and you will be pleased. I cannot do all the fonts but usually just do a few of my favorites.

Comic

, Calibri, or Georgia.

Comic, Calibri, or Georgia.

PS. If you lose your draft, go back to Word and type Control Z and it will return.

Kristin -- I believe that M$ Word is a very poor way to get your colors and fonts. If you look at the html code that M$ Word produces, it is quite wasteful in the volume of code that it produces. M$ Word does work as you say.

Scribefire only produces enough code to get the font changes you want.

Hi everyone.  Thank you for the tips.  I've been slowly trying to work on them.  Granted, most are the same.

Kristen, I started with your tip because it seems the simplest.  However, on my computer- it refused to let me drag the things I highlighted outside of the document.

I tried the cut and paste on my Staging Horse Property post.    It worked in parts but not others.

I looked up the Scribefire website.  That will be my next project.
