SCANDLE: a MAN joins Woman's Council of Realtors!

By
Industry Observer

Not really a scandal... but today I joined the Woman's Council of Realtors (North Shore).  WOW does this chapter have it's stuff together.

Today's speaker was Lynn Madison. http://www.lynnmadison.com/  A LEGEND in this "neck of the woods"... when it comes to training and development of PROFESSIONALS in real estate.

Today, Lynn's totally informative topic was "Cultural Diversity." And Lynn proved herself to be knowledgeable, articulate, informative, and a little bit crazy. FOR ME... she instantly became a role model when it comes to being passionate expert and speaker.

It was amazing to watch the crowd...  they were captivated with what Lynn way saying.

If you are looking for a speaker... I will give my 100% guarantee LYNN will deliver, educate AND entertain. I am so confident in Lynn's ability that if she does not live up to what I say... I will personally pay for her time, travel and expenses if you should decide to hire her and she does produce. (How many people have you met just ONCE and after meeting them you can take such a stand?)

Sooo you might think... "WOW that guy is totally taking a nut job risk taker"... but for me it is a very safe wager. Remember, I have experienced her.  PS: I have NEVER spoken to Lynn prior to today... But now I know just how good she is.

RAISING THE BAR OF PROFESSINALISM... CRAIG

PS: The purpose of the title of my blog was to get you to read it. WCR is and has been totally cool, accepting and welcoming of men.

I tried to join the Women's Council once but I failed the physical.

Since men are in the minority in real estate I often wonder why there is a Women's Council (not that I'm against women, I'm married to one, have 2 daughters, and 2 granddaughters)

Why isn't there a "Men's Council of Realtors"???

To answer Jim's question, once upon a time not too long ago, women were not allowed to go into real estate, unless they had the permission of a father or brother.  Yes, this is true.  Women were not equal, nor considered able to make it in such a man's business.

WCR helps train women for leadership roles that extend beyond their business and into their lives.  Guess women finally made it in real estate.  Yes we dominate residential real estate, even against the odds of our restrictive beginnings.

Of course, I have felt that a name change would be good for WCR, now they have accomplished their goals.  It would be a possitive change to include all people, even men. :)

Go girls!

Not only does our WCR have men as members, but our local chapter of Business and Professional Women have men, too.

I am a proud member of the Stark County, Ohio chapter of the WCR.  At a recent event, I was sitting at a table with agents from my brokerage and I posed the exact same question (actually a comment)- We should start the Men's Council of Realtors.  The idea met with a lot of support.  We are planning our first event for Sept. 12th, and we are planning to make the first event a fundraiser that will either benefit A.) The Stark County battered women's shelter (One of our great agents is on the board of that very worthwhile organization), or B.) give any proceeds to our local Women's Council of Realtors, or both.  At any rate, we're excited to get together and to also support one or both great organizations!
