Painting Is Not My Area Of Expertise

I often get these spur of the moment ideas and decide to act on them, without fully thinking them through. I wonder if anyone else can relate? So, I decided to move to a bigger office in a quieter part of our building, with less distractions. Of course, I could not move in there with the colors that were in there at the time...dark blue and gray. Very depressing colors to work in. I had about three weeks before I could move into it, so plenty of time. I had a few quotes done to paint my office and decided I was not going to pay someone a few hundred dollars and I still had to buy the paint. I knew I had time before I had to move in on March 1st. Well, I started painting a few days before my deadline and in between client showings and being a mom.
Painting

After fifteen minutes into outlining the trim, I tried getting one of the painters to do it, practically begged them, but they were booked and could not fit me in until the end of next week. That is when I realized how much I hated painting . I should have just sucked it up and paid someone to do it for me, like I did my last office. So, the moral of this boring blog post is, don’t procrastinate and just pay for things that you don’t like to do and are not dollar producing activities! Real estate is my area of expertise, I will stick to helping people buy and sell homes from now on!

Hi Katrina,

So did you do it?  I agree with your main thought, do what you do best and let others do what they do best and that way, we all get the best.

Dan, I did it and it was very painful, but done! You are right and I knew I should have just paid someone, yet I was stubborn. Lesson learned :)

This post reminded me of my mother.  She was a tough attorney and everytime she wanted to hire out she would say, "Men get so proud when they change their oil.  Well I get proud paying a man to do it for me."

Katrina, obviously you have not learned the trick.  My wife gets those crazy ideas, and I always know when one is coming when I hear honey "we should do this".  The trick is that in the end the "W" is turned upside down "M" and it is me not we that ends up doing it :)

The key to your real estate needs!

Yes, this is why my office is still not painted...I am too cheap to pay someone and I dislike painting!

George, I overuse the "we" part all the time and my husband ignored me this time. He thinks i have a mouse in my pocket.

Shawna, yes, this time I tried to go cheap and then my procrastination backfired and it was too late to get someone to help. FYI, Melissa loves to paint
