The Greatest Enemy We Face - FEAR

By
Industry Observer

When we turn on any media these days we are inundated with one thing. That is the greatest motivator we all know in our world today, FEAR. It is our greatest enemy. But it is the most unfounded thing in our lives. It is a creation of hell and it's a direct highway to hell in our lives. I was thinking about this age old nemesis as I reluctantly turned on a newscast yesterday. SEQUESTRATION! Oh no, what's it mean to me? That was what they were asking me. I don't know and I really don't care. The lack of planning by our elected officials does not equate with an emergency for me... or you.

What is fear? I've heard that it's an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear is a feeling, an emotion that is easily manipulated in most people. ALL Christians should be immune to it. Oh, I have a moment here and there that will last for maybe 30 seconds but then it's cast aside for good. But that is not the case even within the church today. Many religions keep the majority of the faithful in "healthy" fear. Fear of sinning, fear of God, fear of the world. But Jesus taught us that we were not given a spirit of fear but of love and that perfect love casts out all fear. How much fear does love cast out? ALL.

Fear is the greatest enemy we ever face and the sad part is, it is generated by us in ourselves. It has roots for sure but like any thing with roots, they can be dug out and burned. We don't usually need the media ramping up our fear, we already have it within and they just help to call it out. Some people actually pay money to go to see movies that invoke fear and they love it!

I would like you to watch this short little viral video with a different perspective. It's the newsman freaking out because a harmless lizard jumped on him while doing an interview when he happens to be holding a tail of a snake. You can tell that he is not crazy about snakes, in fact he is super afraid of snakes but puts on an act that he is bold and brave... until that unexpected lizard jumps on him. He actually goes into a paralyzing convulsion that sends him to the floor screaming in fear "GET THIS THING OFF ME!" Actually, he couldn't even speak at first because of the paralysis. He actually said AUUUAAAUWUAA F. What most likely transpired in his mind while pretending to not be afraid of snakes, while holding the tail of one is this: I'M BITTEN!! He probably just shaved 5 years of his life by all this unnecessary stress. And the sad thing is it's all false evidence appearing real to him.

One thing I can guarantee this gentleman is this, the tail of a snake has never bitten anybody ... ever. When we stand on the rock of salvation, when we totally trust God in all things, we will have no fears or phobias. "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."- Jesus' words in Mark 16:17-18.

Now here is the kicker for all believers- the world is watching you. Each and every time we do something that goes against what we preach or say or what the Bible says, they notice and it does great harm to all involved, not just our testimony but to he who is yet to believe. There are many skeptics around us all the time and they know more of what the Bible says than many in the church. The number one knock on the church out there is hypocrisy. It's what kept me away from God for the majority of my life. But I would ask you who reads this to resolve one thing now... Trust in God. He loves you, He has great plans for you, You have no palpable reason to fear at all. I pray that your eyes would be opened in the Spirit and you will see the Heavenly Host that is for you and on your side. We serve the greatest God, the one true God and we have absolutely nothing to fear. The world needs to see this. THIS IS our testimony, let's keep it true.

Oh my gosh that was the funniest reaction.  Love your post here on this topic.  Fear can unnecessarily control lives, emotions, decisions, etc.

Bob & Bonnie- I agree that fear causes us more stress than the actual act we're fearing.  I also have to add that I've never laughed so hard.

Funny reaction no doubt.  Not much to fear at all.  In the end we are all going to die and there is nothing anybody can do to prevent that.  So best to not take life too seriously.

Much of our problems today is the fear that is put on us when there is little need for it.

Paula, Yes key word unnecessary.

Kathy, Stress is the biggest health risk in the world today.

Rob, Life is to enjoy, not to stress over or fear. It's we ourselves who make it hell. A song I love says, "This is life and it's hell if you only live for yourself."

William, I just heard the news this morning and they are all backtracking now on how bad these cuts will hurt us. Even our president was doing a 180. I would love for all to know that manipulation is a form of witchcraft. Nobody should ever be goaded into thinking anything and especially fear driven thoughts.

Added thoughts: Just look at how advertising works on our emotions. It is manipulation and the most prevalent emotion they play on is fear. What to do if you live alone and fall?? Buy OUR product. What if you have a break in? You need alarm protection! What about credit card fraud?? You need LifeLock!! No, we really don't need these things, they are nice to have at times, but the vast majority of us will never need any of them.

God gave us Moses and his laws, the religious leaders then turned them 217 into over 600 rules in the 400 years of silence (years between the book of Malachi and John the baptist advent). Jesus compacted them into 2. Love God and love your neighbor. If we'd all follow these 2 rules... there would be no crime, there would be no emergencies and no need for healthcare.

Bob, you are right on here. Fear is our own worst enemy and has nothing to do with God.

Mt Joy. . . you are so close to me and I've never had the priviledge of meeting you.  I am going to put that on my list!  I really enjoyed your post.  The video definitely showed the dangers of fear in a "humorous" way - but fear is not good.  Thank you for sharing such a profound post.
