Not Everything Is On The Internet!

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Elite 513.520.5305 SAL.2002007747

Not Everything Is On The Internet!

I know it's hard to believe, but not everything we want to know is on the Internet.  Last night we wanted to get takeout from a Mason restaurant named Taqueria Maya.  Yelp had good reviews, but no menu and no website link.  Urbanspoon had the same problem.  Scouring the Internet found a fuzzy picture of a menu that was little help.  A call to the restaurant confirmed they had no website and no place online to find their menu.  Yes, it would take an in person visit to get a menu, which we now have!

And while the Internet has totally transformed the business of real estate, it's not the end all and be all of information.  Shocking isn't it?  While you can go to numerous websites and find out details about almost any house, although some elements of the data may be pretty questionable...NO, that house isn't for sale any longer and NO, that's not REALLY what that house is worth.   Google Street View can be terrific for getting a feel for an area, but until they add Smell-a-vision and a live mic to smell and see the community, it still falls short of the full experience.

Hiring a experienced REALTOR® (like us) to help with your Warren County home buying and selling needs gets you something the Internet can't provide you.  The ability to fill in the gaps in data, to interpret what it means and how it personally impacts your situation.  For your critical needs, is TODAY the right time to sell or not?  Is THIS subdivision the right one for you?  What can we tell you about that home seller or home buyer when you're on the other side of the contract?  Is that short sale agent experienced or not?

Bottom line, there are MANY areas where the Internet falls short.  We can help fill those gaps with our experience.  Just give The Liz Spear Team of RE/MAX Elite a call to find out if we're the right team to help you with your Warren County home purchase or sale.

We are buying a property that was never listed and never hit the MLS, no internet.  Just a personal connection.  Yes I did do a very detailed disclosure.  The fact is they needed to sell fast and I paid what they asked.

Especially out here in my rural markets - internet helps but only to a point.  Context is one of the most irreplaceable services I provide.

I can't believe that people don't have sites with their menus & they plan on staying in business.  It's replaced the phone book that's for sure.

I doubt that you'd find ANY of our local restaurants on line. Or any of the other businesses in town either. BUT - there are plenty of "junk sites" that say they will connect you with a gym, a bed and breakfast, a pizza place, a movie theater, etc. - NONE of which exist in Priest River.

Meanwhile - yes, the Internet can only tell you so much about a house. You need a good agent, and you need to visit in person.

The Internet is simply the beginning of research and exploration, isn't it, yet the details are with a mentor, someone with experience, knowledge and proven performance? Great post.

Gene, A win-win!  We know of a historic home in our area that is temporarily off MLS, but we know they still want to sell, so was able to send that link to one of our buyers for them to check out.

Jeanne, For small mom & pop places, it often doesn't make sense to have much (if any) internet presence.  Too distracting from the core business.

Lyn, At least they could be found, just would have liked to have found a menu in this case.  At least we've got one now.

Marte, I think the smaller, more "hometowny" areas don't really need that same Net presence.  Everyone knows where they are and what they do.  In suburbia, it's a bit muddled.

Sharon, We still find the occasional gap in the Net coverage, especially with small businesses.

Pat & Wayne, I think you figured out the source of Roger's "information" :)

Kimo, Great place to start, but you're right.  To finish, up the ante with a pro that knows that segment you're after.

Great post! It's true, we are so used to finding everything and anything that when we can't, we are disappointed. Good reminder that nothing substitutes for the real thing.

Karen, It has gotten odd to not find what we want on many day to day activities.  Some things need the in person touch, but information has gotten so commonly accessible.

interesting,,,I just stumbled upon a "foreclosure management" person who has 100+ properties that are available but not on the market. I also have an investor from another country that owns over $1.3 BILLION in Florida properties that are not on the market, but they are available

Hi Bliz Team.

Even though there is a lot on the net. There are still issues with it. You can have a great web site but not even be on the search but way deep on the bowles of all the pages they found when searching.

I don't like the fact you can search and there will be what your looking for, But It's back a couple of pages even though you did have the exact web SEO names and numbers for the site.

Why should you have to pay more money for a company to get you on the first page of a search?

If your tag line is "Homes for sale in Warren County Ohio" Then You should come up with the first search.

Confusing to me. All about the Benjamin's I think.

Have a great day  in Ohio.

Best, Clint McKie

Paddy, HIs he looking for a sheik with a billion to spare?

Clint, It's a tough challenge.  Depending on the keywords lots of competition to be top of the heap.  We just have to keep plugging away until we get what we're after.

Liz and Bill,

This is a clever post!  The one thing the Internet cannot do is "think."  Realtors bring all of the information together and help people decipher what the information means.

Today agents need to optimize their use of the internet as well as optimize their personalized service to clients. It's always a balancing act and how much you do of what will differ with every client. I've had clients who've not owned computers or had email... and who would have thought that in this day and age? Obviously I worked differently with them than with very high tech clients.
