Next Monday will mark the beginning of a new series at The Patterson Files. On February 11, The Patterson Files will be discussing the different phases of the home buying process. This is an attempt to educate first time home buyers about steps towards a successful home buying experience. Topics will include:

Hi David,

Great to see you have a series lined up.  I am especially looking forward to reading #'s 1, 3 and 7. 

#2 is near and dear to my hear.  Too many buyers think they are approved when pre-qualified is exactly that- Before qualification- no credit check, brief scan of information that is provided verbally to the mortgage company.  Not much better than one of those mailings you receive saying that you have been approved for a brand new car.  Based on absolutely nothing other than your name and address appearing on their mailing list.

I have discussed the topic of pre-approval on my corporate blog before and we will actually be doing a refresher on the topic again this month.
