Whoever Said January is a Slow Month?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker West Shell

Buyers are thinking ahead to spring and it shows! January has been a busy month in the local Waterloo-Cedar Falls real estate market, as it seems to be every year about this time. My theory? Cabin fever over the holidays, coupled with New Years Resolutions, make for some antsy buyers come January. Throw in rock bottom interest rates and a healthy inventory of houses, and you have the recipe for a strong real estate market. Buyers, don't drag your feet or else you might miss out on the perfect home. They seem to be selling fast! Sellers, this is a perfect opportunity to spruce up your home for showings, because they're likely to pick up if they haven't already. Busy spring, here we come!

I'm pleased to get your sales report and hope this is the start of a great year for you and your area.  Other regions will be troubled for months and years to come.

Things have been perking up around the country and should see seasonal increases through the spring.

Hi Katie:

Here in Mairn, CA, I second your emotion - we are doing quite well and the buyers are catching the lower interest rate bug.  We have a pretty active January in my office and company and we look forward to a very productive year!

And it's COLD outside!
One of the craziest things about how busy we are - it's been a HORRIBLE winter. Below average temps and lots of snow and ice. Can we say "pent up demand"? I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that sees light on the horizon.
