Selling my home: Should I move my packed boxes from the basement?

And the answer is YES. Though you may have packed the items in closed boxes and isolated the location in the basement.  The presentation of the boxes takes away from seeing the basement from it's space and potential. Be it a finished basement or an unfinished space, leaving boxes just create an eye sore and will make your basement look smaller than it is.

People are not seeing the space for what it could be for them but rather  what are your hobbies, keep sake's... perhaps your unusual habits and  quirks... Yikes.

Then there is the potential smell from what you are keeping in boxes as well as the cardboard smell of the boxes themselves.  And here is another one, the boxes could work like a sponge, drawing up smell in the padding of your carpet.  You have just a little moisture in that floor and you are doomed for some odor.

People will leave the home not remembering the wonderful, useful space you had in the home but the stuff you collect, cherish or obsess about.

If for example you have a wonderful finished basement then boxes take away from the recreation view of the room and looks like storage space.

So what do you do?

1. Look at moving those packed boxes to the utility space of the basement. Can you store them in a corner of the garage?  Attic space?

2.  Rent a storage near by and moving your packed boxes there.  Rent a storage pod - these are storage containers that are moved on a back of truck to a storage location.

3 How about asking a neighbor or even a family member who lives near by if you could store your boxes in a space area that does not interfere their functional needs of their home.

By clearing your finished  or unfinished basement your buyer(s) will see the amount of space they have and use their imagination  as to what the basement could look like for them.  They will come backwith plesant memories and you may end up with a SOLD house.

Struggling to search for Avon Lake, Avon, North Ridgeville, Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village Homes?  Need some easier way to do it on the go?  Trulia
and Zillow are great programs however they are not local.  They are not current to activity at the minute and projections on values of homes are questionable based on global measures and not having local information as a local Realtor would.  So what to do? Add my search engine to your mobile devise or  computer and get direct and current home sales, open houses, know when a home is off the market and sold right away and find similar homes in the area.  The search engine has GPS function that you can activate on your phone  and with that it will give you comparables while you are in the driveway of that dream home.  Now how cool is that?

Try it.   http://stanleystepak.hanna2go.com
