Atlanta in the Springtime - Sign #1

Ah, the sweet smell of springtime is finally overtaking the funk of gray winter!

Recently, Rhinebeck, NY agent, Jennifer Fivesdal blogged about the signs of spring in her neck of the woods ...

redbuds

...which inspired me to look for and post the signs of spring's arrival in mine.

I only had to step outside my front door with my smart phone and snap the redbuds you see here. First harbingers of beloved spring!

Actually, these pretty buds are several weeks past their glory, which happens in Atlanta in mid-February.

Still, they make me smile every time I step outside. Now, my smart phone and I will be looking for opportunities to capture more signs of spring as they appear.

Thanks to my Senseis, Sondra Meyer and Margaret Rome, for reminding me of the power of the built-in camera.

As a recent transplant to Georgia myself, I can't tell you what these pretty babies are called. I just know they grow on trees and I love them.

Does anybody know the actual name of these late-winter bloomers?

Elva, In NJ, we are expecting some snow tomorrow. So, it is very nice to see signs of spring in other areas of the country. Hopefully, by the end of March, I will be seeing what you are seeing now. Enjoy this beautiful time of the year!

Nice shot. I flew out of Atlanta day before yesterday and when I was on the way to the airport, the road and roofs were dusted with snow.

Jeana, I grew up in Pittsburgh and my friends and family there are having some weather, too. Thankfully, it will all start to warm up soon. So, keep thinking Spring.

Tanya, we've had several days of unseasonable up-and-down temperatures, and I am not surprised that you saw some snow. It was certainly cold enough on the weekend.

Hi Elva,

We have been experiencing warm weather so our trees are all blooming but big rain storm coming in tonight so I hope the buds do not fall off or it will be a light fruit year. Love your photo.

Kristen, I pray the buds survive the weather and you have plenty of fruit!
