BROKEN ARROW - Preliminary plat for new medical center released; will include retail area

A plat for Broken Arrow's St. John Broken Arrow medical center and surrounding retail has been released, but may not be final.

Drafted in early January, the plat shows the five-story, 86-bed hospital at the northwest corner of Elm Place and Albany Street as the apex of a rough triangle with medical offices, retail and parking spreading toward the base.
Groundbreaking is set for Feb. 15 and the hospital will open next year, officials said.

"The city council's approval of the project last month was a positive milestone for St. John Broken Arrow and its nearby commercial development," said Mike Prescott, principal, Broken Arrow Medical Facility LLC of Oklahoma City.

"We look forward to ... the opportunity to bring a new, modern hospital and commercial district to BA, its residents and neighbors."

Prescott and partner Michael B. Garrett live in Edmond and developed the St. John Owasso hospital, which opened in 2006.

The BA center will offer obstetrics and gynecology, emergency care, general surgery and diagnostic imaging services.

Commercial site sales will be handled by Walman Real Estate services.

Tulsa-based St. John was established by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother nearly 82 years ago, McGill said.

The system operates hospitals in Tulsa, Owasso, Sapulpa and Bartlesville.
