BEWARE: What Is Your Child Eating For Lunch At School Today? Warning: Highly Graphical Content!

Beware and take note of what your children are eating in their school lunches. Ask questions, get involved, find out where the food is coming from. If you do not have school age children but have elderly parents in nursing homes be concerned as well.

An alarming story just came to light by the Human Society. The Honolulu Star Bulletin just released this footage that shows a California beef company blatently violating the laws. The Humane Society has put out this video and it is being picked up by the media showing the disgusting, irresponsible, and illegal inhumane treatment of cattle being brought into the slaughterhouse and violations of health laws that increase your chances of getting very sick!

This is yet another case of what is really going on in the beef industry. There is much more of this that is hidden from the public.

WARNING: Please do not view these videos if you have a weak stomach. These are graphic. I have given you fair warning.

Stop playing Russian Roulette with your food supply!

If you care about the inhumane treatment of cattle or any other animal and you still want to eat beef, then buy organic beef that you can get from Whole Foods who makes sure the cattle is humanely killed or buy your beef from Kosher butcher shops. Stop supporting meat companies that violate health and safety laws as well as humane treatment of animal laws.

Now if you do not care about how the animals are killed or how they are treated that is your right to feel that way but maybe you do care about the increased chances of getting a disease because of the cattle that are too sick to move or too diseased to stand being put into your food supply. Listen to the health officials as they comment on the videos about the dangers to our health.

This company is selling this meat to the USDA who is serving this meat to young children through the National School lunch program and the elderly and the poor who are much more apt to get diseased because of their lower immunity levels. Mad cow disease, E.coli and other food poisoning are the result of these diseased animals being forced to be slaughtered and placed into our food supply. This one company's meat is being distributed through many states. It has been proven that these 'downed cows' are not fit for human consumption.

This is our government buying this meat and these are our government inspectors inspecting this meat before it goes into our food supply! The USDA sends out an inspector to check the cattle the company is going to slaughter that day at 6:30 a.m. and at 12;30 p.m. The cattle are paraded by the inspector and the law says that the cattle must be able to stand and walk. Any 'downed' cattle are not allowed to be slaughtered and must be humanely put to sleep. You will see in this video that this company is doing all manner of cruel and inhumane things to the cows in order to get that cow to pass inspection and put that cow into our meat supply without regard for even our lives.

Here is what the Honolulu Star Bulletin reported as distribution of this beef. The source is the Human Society.

Who got Westland beef

Hawaii was among the top 10 states receiving the most ground beef from Westland Meat Co. last year. The company is being investigated for alleged mistreatment of cattle and food safety violations.

STATE POUNDS OF BEEF
1. California 7.9 million
2. Texas 4.6 million
3. Oklahoma 4.1 million
4. Ohio 2.9 million
5. Washington 1.7 million
6. Iowa 680,000
7. Georgia 418,000
8. Louisiana 400,000
9. Arizona 360,000
10. Hawaii 360,000
Source: Humane Society

If these videos do not cause you to stop eating meat or to switch you to organic meat I do not know what will! The Humane Society did a 6 week undercover investigation. This is like playing Russian Roulette with your dinner!

If you do not eat beef and your children do not eat from the school cafeteria you should still be alarmed and be proactive in teaching your children good hygiene as E.coli is contagious. It can pass quickly among school children who do not wash their hands with warm water and soap after using the bathroom. This bacteria is deadly in young children and the elderly. It is much worse than what the industry will tell you it is. I have seen the evidence and done the research on mad cow disease and the other prevalent bacteria in meat packing plants.

Since we homeschool and do not eat beef this is not a risk to us but we care about all the children and the elderly so please be proactive in your children and parent's health and buy organic beef or stop eating beef. There are many other foods you can eat that are healthy.

I saw this on the world news and it was pretty sick. They shut down that place and in the end.....they said that this has been happening all along...it just when and where they catch them. I bought organic hamburger from Costco and that was pretty good.

Katerina, I had to pass on the videos.  Like you, I find the food supply pretty scary - not just the meat, but also the engineered vegetables that are being reinvented by agri-business.  Almost all of what I eat is locally grown and/or organic.

Bryant- I read the book, Fast Food Nation, which is thousands times better than the movie was. I was very disappointed in the movie. The book goes into all the details all through the fast food industry from french fries to the beef to the chicken to the awful treatment of illegals and the treatment of employees which is also near inhumane.

Missy- They get away with it because I am sorry to say, they pay people off, they use hard ball and threats, they are all about profits without concern, care or a human hair on their greedy bodies! It is awful. You should read the book, Fast Food Nation. Don't watch the movie, it was no good in comparison. You can get it from Amazon. It is worth knowing this in order to help your future grandparents.

Rebecca Levinson

Rebecca- It is easy to get lax on what our kids our eating. It is not a fast poisonous result but rather a very slow toxic poisoning that will most likely not effect our kids until they are much older. That is the real danger, we become too trusting of the manufacturers and we become complacent. Thank you for your comment, now get back to making your kids lunches and tell them to wash their hands a lot! And NOT with that anti bacterial soap either! Katerina

Lizette- Out of sight, out of mind. The brainwashing by the meat industry tries to make is so we do not even think about it. The cruelty is awful but even more awful is blatant disregard for human health, babies and elderly are not able to fight off the gross fecal bacteria that is in the food chain. Katerina

Katerina the story was on our local news becaue the Seattle Public schools were pulling all meat products from the menus.  I was sickened when I saw the footage of how they treated the poor cows.  The images are still stuck in my head!  GREAT POST!!

Part of the problem with buying organic foods is the cost. Some families just can't afford it. Healthy foods cost more. That sucks.

Sandy Noll - Realtor, eAgent

Sandy- Yes, the treatment of the cows is sick but also that they would put sick cows into your meat supply! Disgusting!  That is why I do not eat beef, also, because they tear down rain forests to meet our growing demand for beef and I want no part of that, also, all cow protein contains casein, even  milk and cheese, and casein is the fertilizer for cancer cells.

Pam Graham- Jacksonville Florida Real Estate

Pam- All families can afford to buy organic. That is a misnomer that it is so expensive. If you stay away from the prepared foods; you can buy food at Whole Foods for a family of 4 for $120 per week. That is much less than the average poor person buys at Walmart and Mcdonalds! Also, buy from local farms, great coops are all over Florida.

The best way to cut down on food costs is to go vegetarian! Meat is the most expensive thing. Rice and beans are the healthiest for you body and liver! And very inexpensive. We eat black beans and rice at one meal almost every day. I fed a family of 8 on $200 per week so I know it can be done! Katerina

Carlie- They say the name in the video. Also, on my chart there, Westland Beef.

But they are just the ones that got caught. I will tell you it goes on throughout the industry.

Our home is a cow free zone!
