Atlanta Real Estate Market Shows Signs of Stabilization

It's true, the Atlanta real estate market is showing some welcome signs of stabilization.

At the height of the housing crash, Atlanta had become one of the worst performing housing markets in the country. And while we truly seem to be on a road to recovery, we still have had to deal with declining values and high inventories of homes for sale in many of our neighborhoods, price ranges and metro Atlanta cities.

After seven years of tumultuous real estate news, it’s a pleasure to open the paper or turn on the TV these days and hear about how well the country’s economy is recovering and how home sales are up and prices stabilizing all over the USA.

Are we truly out of the woods?

Recent reports still suggest that there remains a national backlog

...of hundreds of thousands of foreclosures sitting empty and awaiting disposition. The Atlanta real estate market is no exception. Many of these will need to be pushed through the system -- not the tsunami we faced a few short years ago during the foreclosure moratorium, but significant still.

Other industry experts predict there remain hundreds of thousands of short sales to be worked through as well. We in the Atlanta real estate market have certainly seen our fair share of foreclosures and short sales, and I expect that this year will continue the trend.

All of these issues can still present challenges when selling your Atlanta area home,

...underlining the importance of pricing your home correctly and choosing a real estate agent with excellent marketing skills and a good track record of success to help you through a successful home sale.
