Spring Forward 2013 - You're burning daylight!
I wasn't sure what to blog on today so as always I read others Blog's and I have not re-Blogged before but thought this was really sweet. I hope everyone enjoy's it like I did!
You're burning "daylight." That's an expression my dad would mutter when my sis and I would sleep in on the weekends during our teen years. And, if we're to believe in the reason for Daylight Savings time, dad was right.
The main reason we move the clock forward an hour this weekend, is to take advantage of the additional daylight. The idea is to save energy because we don't need to turn on the lights quite so early. Or, we'll be spending more time outside, instead of inside, where we use more energy sources.
However studies, as to if this theory lives up to the promise, are mixed. Regardless, we Spring Forward in 2013, tomorrow night ( really, early Sunday morning) at 2 AM. The wee-hours-of-the-morning time change is designed to cause the least disruption in our lives.
No doubt, those of us who are most sensitive to sleep cycles will likely feel the change and suffer a few tired and blurry eyed mornings before adjusting. Perhaps you can take solace in these words - often attributed to Winston Churchill.
We pay back the loan of an extra yawn in spring, with the "golden interest" of a lengthier snooze in the autumn.
