Don't Play Hide N Seek In Real Estate

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Hide N SeekI have seen some real estate agents say they can always get back to you in 30 minutes. That is impressive I think when one can't pick up a phone or email, but how about UNDER half a day?

Don't Play Hide N Seek In Real Estate.

When on the job, work. If you have to deliver bad news to a client or an agent on the other side of the transaction, talk to them on the phone, NOT email. To immediately alert someone of something TEXT them. They will see it even if at lunch with a client or in a meeting.

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE HIDING, doesn't mean I don't know you are there. I do hear some good excuses like the phone was in the purse, in another room, I only check email twice a day. There are reasonable times we can't pick up or look at an email. BUT, don't extend it beyond a half day in critical times working a deal.

Playing Hide N Seek requiring someone MULTIPLE times to track you down is not professional. It may be necessary but you sure don't want to work with that person again. Also get to the point in all communication and if the other party goes on too much, remind them you have to go.

Hide N Seek is fun as a children's game. But in real estate to get things done we have to CONNECT........

Great advice, Gary - this is a people business, and you've got to be where the people are.

On the other hand ... as I learned very late in life ... you do have to draw some personal time boundaries or your own life will completely unravel ... :-)

Good points, Gary!  There is always the need for a good balance between chasing the cell down for calls, texts, and email, and being with your family!!

I agree. Like Sharon (#6) said, with all the technology we have, there's little reason not to stay connected.

If it's good news, we all feel wonderful getting it out. The professionals in our business do the same thing when the news isn't that good.

It does not matter if you are dealing with the public or with fellow need to be accessible during reasonable hours.

Unless of course if you are with a client and then RETURN the call ASAP!!

Playing hide N seek with customers is a down hill slide to no business.

Good luck and success.

Absolutely!  It's very frustrating when you can't reach an agent in the middle of a transaction.  It is understandable that there are times we're working and can't answer the phone, e-mail or text.  Especially when we're driving.  But it only takes a second to duck out of a home and check, especially when time lines are being followed.  SUGGEST!

Gayle: I have this Hide N Seek game happen periodically and more than anything else I think it is just bad habits on the part of some people, and things really go into this stall when I can't find people. The text idea has helped a lot to get right in their face attention.
