Team In Training LogoDuring the first two weeks of my affiliation with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in tnt-logo.jpgtnt-logo.jpgTraining most of my time has been spent preparing for the fund-raising.

While I was busy composing letters my wife helped out by emailing a few friends and family which brought in a quick base of funds.  My next step was to compile a list of people I knew that might help support my effort to raise $5000 for blood cancer research.  The first batch of 150 letters hit the mail at the end of my first week and contributions hit 20% of my goal.

Sandra... Maybe I'll cash in my credits.....

Jennifer... Figures you give Sandra credit for a few emails while I'm the one that will spend in excess of 100 hours running while training and even more time traveling to the group functions and fund raising...

Thesa...  Thanks.... I'll work hard to make it...   No slackers allowed on the team and the first cut is a few months away.

I think many people find the fundraising portion more difficult than the actual race!  Sounds like you are "off and running!"

Ginger... Think the fundraising concern varies with the sexes....woman seem to worry more about going the distance of the run while men worry about losing their place on the team if they don't raise enough money.

Mana... As it gets closer we'll have to firm up plans to meet....

Dan - which race are you running?  I'm in for New York - again - I've done it once.  You had asked me a few pointed questions -I want you to know that if you want to improve your 5k time the best way to  do that is through FARTLEKS ---->

As I mentioned I had a speed trainer at NCSU - he worked on my timing and speed training - the results are amazing. While team in training is positive - they don't deliver advanced training results.

Call me if you would like to discuss further.

Tracy.., I am doing the Rock-n-Roll Marathon in San Diego on June 1st.   Are you talking New York as in November of this year?   Regardless of when I'd be up for it...  Have some work tonight but I'll email to arrange a good time to call...
