The Lifestyle of living Mercer Island, I have been asked by many “Why should I live on Mercer Island?”. My answer is really quite simple, Mercer Island is in the middle of everything, yet keeps a small town charm. The Mercer Island lifestyle is a laid back, friendly, and active life. We have all heard of island time and Mercer Island almost gets you there. Now don’t confuse what I’m saying… it is not Hawaii or a lazy little island in the Caribbean. The lifestyle of living Mercer Islandis just that, easy going with family owned restaurants and shops, but they don’t leave out the essentials; yes, what I’m saying is they have a Starbucks or four. This is a family friendly place with many parks and family actives to do. During the sunny days and nice summer evenings stroll on up to the famous “LID”. The LID is a park that was built over Interstate 90 to control noise so as to not interfere with the Mercer Island lifestyle. Located just minutes from downtown Seattle to all the Seattle Seahawks, Sounders, and Mariners games and possible returning Seattle Basketball scene. Or when you feel the need to go for a hike get on I-90 and head to the east where there are great hikes; only 20 minutes.
Why would you ever need to leave the lifestyle of living Mercer Island with unique island lifestyle events like: Round the Rock, a Stand Up paddle board race, the Mercer Island half marathon, and the Summer Celebration. You can enjoy events such as Mostly Music in the Luther Burbank Park and if you are into cycling enjoy the Mercer Island loop with more than 100 corners and a nearly 13 mile loop. Ok, so now you’re saying “Alex, I thought this was an island and you have yet to mention anything about the great boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming or that it is located directly under the Blue Angles Sea Fair show.” Yes, there are many other great reasons to live on Mercer Island, but right now your one thing should be to get here so you can start enjoying the Lifestyle of Living Mercer Island.
