Signs Of Spring In Delaware County PA

spring delaware county Delaware County Pennsylvania is showing signs of spring in mid March.  Daffodils are above the ground and showing off their buds, crocuses are on display in clusters here and there, pussy willows have appeared on branches and you can hear the songs of the tufted titmouse singing his springtime song.

Male morning doves can be heard woo cooing their female counterparts a song that is silent during the colder months.  Robins have returned to our backyard having ventured off for the winter with other robins during their off season of raising young.  The robins stake out their territory for their breeding season, with an occasional spat with another male robin to say “hey this is my territory find your own!”

real estate delaware countyCanadian Geese can be seen near creeks and waterways scouting out the territory for this year’s place to call home and to raise their little ones.

The trees as not yet visibly budding, but I read in local news reports that maple is running in the maple trees.

The days are getting longer, the local real estate market has picked up, and the phone is ringing more with buyers and sellers wanting to make a move.

These are good signs that the cold winter is now behind us here in Delaware County PA and spring is on its way!

Retired and loving life

Hi Gloria-I am seeing lots of sign of Spring here too. I have a few crocuses that have opened but soon there will be daffodils and tulips. I did see some times in the Walmart parking lot with their bloom going on. Lots of robins and of course those pesky black birds. Love the blue flowers in the field. Are they the crocuses.

The Sandhill Cranes are coming our way for their annual migration, and that is a sure sign of spring. Have a great day, Gloria and Doug.

Hi Nick, Just beyond the tire swings is Crum Creek, so yes it is a lovely setting when all is green with the sound of the water as well.

Wow Debbie, that great to see those cranes! Enjoy your spring as it unfolds.

Hi Doug and Gloria,

Great photos and I am so glad spring has arrived in Pennsylvania. We have had way too much cold weather and it is time for some warmth and sunshine.
