I recently discovered a great new website that I think we could all benefit from. Meetup.com
Meetup.com sounds an awful lot like a dating site, but, coming from someone that is not looking to “meetup” with that “special someone”, I can tell you, it’s not. So, what is Meetup.com? A quote from the source … “Meetups are … neighbors getting together to learn something, do something, share something”. Meetup.com is a compilation of groups of people in a local area that share common interests. Many of you, no doubt, have participated in networking groups throughout the years. Meetup.com is similar, but, a bit more broad … from groups for people who have Pug dogs to groups for people that are big-time Real Estate Investors.
Search “Real Estate” within a 50 mile radius of a Denver zip code for example … and this is what you find:
1)Denver Metro Real Estate Group – 19 members
2.)ICOR Denver: Colorado Real Estate Investor Association – 69 members
3.)Internet Marketing for Real Estate Professionals – 99 members
4.)Colorado Springs Real Estate Investing Club – 560 members
And pages and pages more!

On Meetup.com you can start your own meetup group or you can join an existing one. Once you join a group you will be on their message board and receive information about their upcoming in-person meetups. Today for example the members if ICOR Denver: Colorado Real Estate Investor Association will meet in the Denver Tech Center to share a forum entitled “Hide and Seek: Investors key to finding hidden Real Estate deals”. So far 28 members will be present to share their tips and knowledge.
If you want to use the site for a more personal nature … go ahead, look around. I for example, am attending a New Moon Ceremony tonight … this ceremony is meant to allow you to release your intentions for the coming lunar cycle into the universe. I expect to meet great friends and learn something new. The meetup cost … $5 bucks!!! Can’t beat that.
Meetup.com offers lots of fun options … from an Arts and Culture Appreciation Society close to Clarksville, TN where one of my favorite Active Rain bloggers Debbie Reynolds, lives … to a Northern Mountain Photography Club meetup in Maryland for Active Rain’s very own Roy Kelley, one of the better nature photographers that I have seen in a long time!
Head on over today and … meetup… with some new folks in your area!
