Time Running Out for Filing for Tax Exemptions - Deadline April 1

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Around Atlanta

Remember April 1 is the deadline for filing for Georgia Tax Exemptions.  These exemptions include the Homestead Exemption and the School Taxe Exemption to name the most popular.  Each county sets exemptions so it will vary.  In Cherokee and Cobb County residents 62 and over can file for the School Tax Exemption and reduce their tax bill by at least 50%.  In most cases you will need to go to the Tax Commissioner office to file for the exemptions and will be some documentation.  Call your local Tax Commissioners office to find out what you will need.
